Novena to Protect from the Corona Virus

To the Queen of Peace   

A novena –prayed every day for nine days with the rosary –

ORATIO IMPERATA – Prayer Against the Spread of the Corona Virus

From the Prayer of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, CBCP                        (I added paragraphs 3 & 4)

“God Our Father, we come to you in our need, to ask your protection against the 2019-N Corona Virus, that has claimed lives and affected many.

We pray for your grace for the people tasked with studying the nature and cause of this virus and its disease, and of stemming the tide of its transmission.  Guide the hands and minds of medical experts that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion, and of those governments and agencies, that must find a cure and solution to this epidemic. 

We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.  Grant us the grace to work for the good of all and to help those in need.  May every need be plentiful; including medicine, doctors and trained staff; supplies, food, equipment; and may the facilities, clinics, and hospitals have everything they need to care for the sick and contain the virus.  May the authorities be divinely guided on how to carefully protect the public from the spread of the virus; via transportation, travel, commerce, food, schools, businesses and domestic daily activity.

We pray for protection from fear and panic; that through the Queen of Peace, we may calmly pray with confidence and trust that God will assist us with every need in dealing with this virus.

Grant this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever.  Amen.”

The corona virus was named because it appears to resemble a crown.  In this novena, we implore, under her crown of grace, that no evil will have power over us; we call upon our Queen and Mother to protect and care for us.  She who was crowned in Heaven by grace, to help us against an invisible virus which is spreading rapidly, sickening and killing people.  We consecrate ourselves to her so under her crown, the ravages of  a 'corona virus' shall have no power over us, or can harm us or our families.  Our Lady was solemnly crowned by Christ and received by the whole court of Heaven as Queen.  We now declare her as Queen of the human race; the Queen of Heaven and Earth.  Under her protection and help, we will overcome.

What Christ has done in Heaven and the Church has done on our behalf we should now do individually; we should recognize Mary's Queenship, enthrone her in our homes, consecrate ourselves to her and, by this means, establish in our lives the reign of Mary Immaculate Queen of the Universe.  Here are other optional prayers to pray with the novena:

Novena to Mary, Queen of All Hearts

“I greet you, ever-blessed Virgin, Mother of God, throne of grace, miracle of almighty power! I greet you, sanctuary of the Most Holy Trinity and Queen of the Universe, Mother of mercy and refuge of sinners!

Most loving Mother, attracted by your beauty and sweetness, and by your tender compassion, I confidently turn to you, and beg of you to obtain for me of your dear Son the favor I request in this novena: (mention your request).

Obtain for me also, Queen of Heaven and Earth, the most lively contrition for my many sins and the grace to imitate closely those virtues which you practiced so faithfully, especially humility, purity, and obedience. Above all, I beg you to be my mother and protectress, to receive me into the number of your devoted children, and to guide me from your high throne of glory.

Do not reject my petitions, Mother of Mercy! Have pity on me, and do not abandon me during life or at the moment of my death.

Daughter of the Eternal Father, Mother of the Eternal Son, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, Temple of the Adorable Trinity, pray for me. Immaculate an tender Heart of Mary, refuge of the needy and hope for sinners, filled with the most lively respect, love, and gratitude, I devote myself forever to your service, and I offer my heart with all that I am and all that is mine.

Accept this offering, sweet Queen of Heaven and Earth, and obtain for me from your dear Son, Jesus Christ, the favors I ask through your intercession in this novena. Obtain for me also a generous, constant love of God, perfect submission to His Holy Will, the true spirit of a Christian, and the grace of final perseverance.

O Mary, Queen of All Hearts, Advocate of the most hopeless cases; Mother most pure, most compassionate; Mother of Divine Love, full of divine Light, we confide to your care the petitions which we humbly ask of you today.

Consider our misery, our tears, our interior trials and sufferings. We know that you can help us through the merits of your Divine Son, Jesus. We promise, if our prayers are heard, to spread your glory by making you known under the title of "Mary, Queen of All Hearts, Queen of Heaven, of Earth, of the Universe."

Grant, we beseech you, hear our prayers, for every day you give us so many proofs of your love and intercession to heal both body and soul. We hope against all hope; ask Jesus to cure us, pardon us, and grant us final perseverance.
